The Land

Grown in the foothills of the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage region, this single‑origin arabica reflects a landscape defined by elevation, forest cover and a climate uniquely suited to its cultivation.

The historic coffee regions of Coorg and Chikmagalur sit within this highland belt. Arabica first took root in India here after arriving in the Chandragiri Hills in 1670.

The Environment

Sitting between 900m and 1,400m, the estates benefit from cool temperatures, rich loamy soil and protective shade from the native canopy. Pepper vines grown on silver oaks impart subtle spice notes and help protect the estate’s natural growing environment.

Regional biodiversity, including wild bees and fruit‑bearing trees, contributes gentle sweetness and natural depth to the cup.


These conditions slow the maturation of the cherries, supporting a balanced and naturally developed complexity.

The Estates

In a region where 98% of estates are family‑owned, coffee is cultivated through selective hand‑picking and time‑honoured methods passed down through generations.

 

Ripe cherries are gathered in small batches and sun‑dried on open yards near the estate homes. This slow, natural process preserves the coffee’s inherent character.

 

Family stewardship ensures continuity, with the same hands caring for the same land, season after season.

The Culture

Across Coorg, coffee is interwoven with daily life. Families uphold long‑held customs, from tending ancestral shrines to marking the blossom season with quiet prayers for rain.

 

Sacred groves locally named 'Devakad', or 'Forests of the Gods',  remain untouched sanctuaries that embody a deep reverence for nature.

Rituals honouring the River and Goddess Kaveri believed to bless the land with rainfall, mark the rhythm of the agricultural year and reinforce a culture of stewardship and respect.

This relationship between people and place is inseparable from the character of the coffee.
